José graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1983 (Bilbao, Spain) and in Dentistry in 1986 (Barcelona, Spain). Since then he worked in Spain as partner of a large private dental practice, with specialist interest in Implant and Periodontal treatment from 1994. He completed a part-time Master in Implantology with the New York University College of Dentistry in 1995 and a 1-year full-time program in Periodontics at the University of Texas, Houston in 1999 that was followed by a three-year full-time MSc degree in Periodontics at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden that he accomplished in 2002 when the General Dental Council recognized him as Specialist.

He has been working in the UK since then mostly dedicated to treatment of severe periodontal disease, hard/soft tissue management, cosmetic periodontology and   implant therapy, including bone augmentation procedures of compromised sites.

He was clinical instructor of the postgraduate training in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute during 2003 and has lectured throughout Spain, Italy and the UK over recent years. He is currently the course director and senior lecturer of the Diploma in Clinical Periodontology and lecturer of the Diploma in Implantology at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

José is a very enthusiastic member of the team at the Mall Advanced Dental Care, dedicated to providing support to patients, hygienists and dentists in the management of complex perio-implant-restorative cases.
