Mike Booth
Implantology & Prosthetics
Mike graduated from Manchester University in 1973, when he was awared both final year Operative Dentistry prizes. He has worked in general practice ever since in Lytham, Garstang and Grange-over-Sands, Ambleside and presently Manchester City Centre.
Mike and Phil Broughton met over 10 years ago, and discovered they both shared the same driving force and enthusiasm for dentistry. This was not only about the type and quality of dentistry provided by them, but also about the way this was delivered seamlessly to their patients.
Over the last 37 years Mike has constantly pursued postgraduate education at Centres of Excellence all over the world. His main area of interest is implantology, and he has seen many changes in this discipline since placing his first implant in 1989.
Since then, Mike has placed over 2,500 implants, and is familiar with all the major implant systems. Since the acquisition of a CT scanner Mike has moved into the area of guided surgery with all the advantages and opportunities this provides to his patients. When appropriate, Mike employs sinus elevation and bone grafting techniques to enable patients to have implants placed, where in the first instance, bone quantity and quality are not ideal.
Over an 8 year period in the 1980s, Mike held a consultancy with 3m Espe providing clinical data to the company, and working with the research and development team in the development of new dental materials.
“I am passionate about my profession, loving the intricacies of providing the highest quality dentistry possible. I believe the provision of ‘same day teeth’ will become the norm, along with the integration of CadCam techniques into daily practice. Clearly, this is only possible by forging strong relationships with our dental technicians.”
