Replacing dentures

There are many reasons people come to us at The Smile Centre UK for dentures. Some need their dentures replacing because they are loose and no longer fit correctly, others are looking for a more natural looking smile which our hand crafted dentures always give. For many they are first time denture wearers who come to us because of our reputation, experience and customer recommendations.

I can honestly say I don't think I have had anyone who has come for replacement dentures because their dog has chewed them up or they have accidentally flushed them down the loo as this American dental lab owner reports.

I have seen individuals however who have damaged their dentures through improper care, or have broken them when dropping in the bathroom basin.

Dentures should be handled with care as this will effect the longevity of the dentures, their functionality and the way they look.

A proper denture cleaning brush should be used to clean dentures as this will prevent abrasions being made. Never use regular toothpaste to clean dentures, there are many recommended denture cleaners on the market that should be used. Dentures should be removed to clean and put in a bowl utilising its required cleaning solution or cold water. Wearing them during sleep is not recommended. Dentures that are left dry have the possibility to shrink or may become brittle and could crack.

You should always put a towel or bowl of water underneath when removing dentures from the mouth, just in case the dentures are dropped as this will prevent them from breaking. Click here for denture care tips.
