Dental Care

Prevention is better than cure they say, well when it comes to dental care that is so true. A good dental care routine will help prevent tooth decay and gum disease, which is not only painful but can result in the loss of one or more teeth.

  • Regular brushing, regular means at least twice a day, and daily flossing will remove food particles and bacteria from your teeth and will prevent bad breath.
  • Rinsing with an antiseptic mouth is good for preventing the build up of plaque and bacteria as they contain anti-bacterial ingredients. Mouthwashes are used by most people to freshen the breath.
  • Eat a healthy balanced diet. Certain foods such as those high in starch or sugar will contribute to the production of plaque acids. It is these acids that attack tooth enamel. If the tooth enamel is broken down cavities will form. Try not to eat these types of foods between meals.
  • Regular visits to your dentist are very important as if there were any problems they could be treated immediately before getting any worse. For example, a cavity in a tooth that is left untreated will collect bacteria, this can then lead to gum disease and eventual tooth loss.

Whilst brushing teeth regularly is important brushing teeth correctly makes a huge difference. When brushing teeth ensure you brush the outside, inside and the surface of each tooth. Tilt your toothbrush to a 45 degree angle and brush using short strokes forward and back. We recommend you gently brush your tongue to remove any bacteria.
