Many people have teeth that are misaligned. Some are very noticeable, others hardly at all. Whether it’s a slightly crooked tooth at the front or several in a row there are now a choice of treatments available that can straighten your teeth and make you want to smile again.
Braces, the traditional way of straightening teeth is still available. Braces can be fixed, these can only be removed by your orthodontist, or removable which can be taken out to be cleaned but must be worn at all other times. Braces gradually exert pressure on the teeth which moves them into place. Many people rule out braces because of the way they look. Lingual braces however fit to the back of your teeth rather the front so may be an alternative option for you. However straightening teeth using braces takes a long time which is why more people are choosing aligners to get their teeth into shape.
Aligners work in a similar way to braces but look so much better. They apply pressure to the teeth in order to move and straighten them but do so much more quickly than traditional braces. Some aligners are able to get results in half the estimated time of traditional braces.
Invisalign and Inman aligners are almost completely unnoticeable so are becoming increasingly popular for the treatment of straightening teeth.
The other option is veneers. Teeth are prepared by trimming a very thin layer of enamel from the front of the tooth to make space for the veneer. When using veneers to straighten the teeth more is trimmed from the areas that protrude. This means when the veneers are places on the teeth they will appear straighter. Many choose this option as it is the quickest for results, 2 weeks on average.
