Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are a popular treatment in salons and clinics across the UK to correct wrinkles, scarring and other skin imperfections.

They are made of several types of natural, manmade and synthetic material. Some of the most used fillers in the UK are hyaluronic acid based. Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the cells of tissues in all animals. In the U.K it has become the preferred type of filler. This type of collagen is friendly to the body, less likely to cause allergies and unlike bovine collagen which is derived from the skin of cows there is no need for tests before use.

When injected into the area being treated dermal fillers plump up the skin which smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles.

The treatment takes between 30 minutes and an hour. There may be a little tenderness following the treatment but this shouldn’t take long to calm down. Dermal fillers that are synthetically produced like the ones made of hyaluronic acid are not permanent and usually last between 3 and 9 months depending on the amount used and the patient’s lifestyle.

Non invasive with almost no recovery time needed, dermal fillers allow you to resume normal activities following treatment.

Please note that dermal fillers are medical devices and treatments must only be carried out by a doctor, dentist or fully qualified nurse.
