What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are materials that are injected into the skin to plump it up and smooth out lines and wrinkles

What areas can be treated with dermal fillers?

They can be used to create fuller lips, shape facial contours such as cheeks and chin and to smooth away wrinkles and facial lines such as frown lines.

Can anyone have dermal fillers?

Pregnant or breast feeding women must not have dermal fillers as they have not been tested in this area yet. Anyone that has a medical condition that lowers the body’s immune system would be advised not to have dermal fillers as they will have a high risk of infection by a skin injection procedure. Also anyone that has skin problems or has had a skin disease would not be allowed dermal fillers.

How long does the procedure take?

The treatment takes between 30 minutes and an hour.

How long do the results last?

Dermal fillers that are synthetically produced like the ones made of hydraulic acid are not permanent and usually last between 3 and 9 months depending on the amount used and the patient’s lifestyle.
